I have always wanted to be a devout “journaler” but reality set in and I found myself as more of a journal collector. That all changed when I was introduced to interactive journaling (<- insert light bulb moment here.) Since then, I have accumulated a gross number of notebooks, each filled with pages cluttered with post-it notes and taped in receipts, printed photos and scraggly handwritten memories. I have discovered true love in making lists and collecting stickers and stamps to help me really remember the magic of each moment.
When I first began chasing the creativity as a career path, I tried to read everything I could get my hands on about the industry. What I quickly realized is that no matter how many books or blogs or magazines you read, you can never create an infallible pathway or a flawless journey. That is the beauty of the creative process.
For me: This is a screen-shot capture and playback of my story. It is a way to collect and seal those previously mentioned moments in their respective jars and neatly place them in size (and color) order on my beautifully organized, wall-to-wall, built-ins.
FACT (noun): a thing that is indisputably the case
Life is full of moments. In each moment, no matter the size, there is a piece of humor that can be taken. If you put that humor into a jar and store it on your “shelf”, one day you might have enough to write a book (or a marginally looked after blog!)
Over the last few years I have been fortunate enough to “dip my toes” in a variety of job pools and collect tokens of humor along the way. It’s a telling story, really…
Close your eyes and picture a small curly haired blonde girl, big blue eyes, covered in mud, and wearing a grin ear to ear.
Just kidding… but really… I was raised by a badass “trample the patriarchy” esq mother, who encouraged me to accept every adventure AND always have a plan. It is from there that I began criss-crossing through my academic “career”, pit-stopping around the US and finally paddling through a cornucopia of opportunities at sea.
For you: I hope that this provides you with a snap-shot into who I am as a Creative Producer, Writer & Storyteller … along with a double shot of laughter.
